A silver pink tissue Kanchivaram silk saree with a shimmering metallic body, woven with a flowing lattice of rose gold zari lines. The wide maroon border is woven in rich gold zari with rows of peacocks in square frames, framed by bands of fine zigzag patterns and a temple (gopuram) edge, with a broad gold panel between the peacock bands. The pallu is a gleaming gold tissue, with a band of fine zari scrolls and a leaf edge below the body, and it ends in a plain gold field. A matching gold tissue blouse piece with a maroon peacock border comes with the saree. It suits weddings, receptions, festivals and special occasions, and the pink, gold and maroon combination is a classic bridal choice.
Saree length: 5.5 metres, plus a 0.8 metre blouse piece
Blouse: gold tissue with a maroon peacock border
Weave: tissue
Body: silver pink with a rose gold zari lattice
Border: wide maroon gold zari peacock border with a temple edge and a broad gold panel

Care: dry clean only. Store folded in a muslin cloth, and refold it every few months.
Kanchivaram weaving is one of India’s oldest silk traditions. The body, border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked, which gives a strong border and a bold contrast between the pink body and the maroon border. In the tissue weave, fine zari is woven through the weft, so the whole saree glows and changes shade in the light. The peacock bands, the temple edge and the zari lattice are woven in zari on the loom, with careful setting of the warp and weft.
Kanchipuram is a temple town in Tamil Nadu and the home of Kanchivaram silk. Weaving families there have passed the craft down through generations. The designs draw on temple architecture and nature, including peacocks, gopuram edges, zigzags and lattice patterns.
