Maroon is red that has settled into itself: the colour of a mother's wedding saree and the one most often handed down. This edit gathers our maroon, wine and burgundy silks, mostly Kanjivarams with gold zari, each sourced directly from the loom.
For brighter reds, see the red silk sarees.
Questions before you choose
Maroon or red for a wedding?
Both are traditional. Maroon reads richer and more mature in photographs; red is brighter and more bridal. Many families choose red for the muhurtham and maroon for the reception.
Are the Kanjivarams Silk Mark certified?
Yes. Every Kanjivaram at The Saffron House carries the Silk Mark. Other weaves are described on each product page.
Will the maroon look the same in person?
Screens shift colour, especially with zari. Our Bangalore store will show you the saree in daylight on a WhatsApp video call; book a video call with your shortlist.
