A Kanchivaram silk saree in a fresh parrot green. The body is woven with a fine gold zari dot texture that gives a soft shimmer without hiding the colour of the silk. A band of floral sprays runs along the side and the hem, with roses and leaves outlined in teal and gold zari, and a narrow mustard yellow edge frames the saree. The pallu is a lighter lime green, woven with rows of small teal diamonds and a ridged zari band where it joins the body. A matching green blouse piece, with fine teal stripes and the same floral motifs at the edge, comes with the saree. It suits weddings, festivals, pujas and special occasions, and the green with teal and gold is a fresh, lively combination.

Kanchipuram silk sarees are woven on handlooms from silk thread and zari. The weaver builds the pattern on the loom, thread by thread, so the zari and the motifs are part of the cloth itself. On this saree the body carries a fine zari dot texture, the roses are woven in teal silk with gold zari outlines, and the pallu is woven with rows of small teal diamonds.
Kanchipuram, in Tamil Nadu, has been known for its silk sarees for centuries. Weaving families here have passed the craft down through generations, and the saree is woven with the same tools and techniques that they have always used. Kanchipuram silk carries a GI tag.
