A soft baby pink Kanchivaram silk saree in the Korvai weave, with large round medallion buttas woven in fine gold and silver zari across the plain body. The wide mustard border is woven in gold zari with bands of florals, paisleys and creepers, and below them a broad panel of alternating zari and red stripes. The body meets the border in a soft peach and mustard blended edge. The mustard pallu is woven in a tone-on-tone pattern of creepers, medallions and a fine lattice, with zari bands at its edge, and it ends in tassels. A matching mustard blouse piece with a zari striped border comes with the saree. It suits weddings, festivals and special occasions.

Blouse: mustard with a zari striped border
Weave: Korvai
Body: plain baby pink with large zari medallion buttas
Border: wide mustard border with floral and paisley zari bands and a striped panel
Pallu: mustard tone-on-tone creeper and lattice weave with zari edge bands, with tassels
Care: dry clean only. Store folded in a muslin cloth, and refold it every few months.
Kanchivaram weaving is one of India’s oldest silk traditions. In the Korvai technique, the body is woven in one colour and the border in another, and the two are joined by interlocking the weft threads. This gives a sharp contrast where body meets border. The pallu is woven separately and joined in the same way. The medallion buttas, the striped border and the creeper bands are woven in zari on the loom, with careful setting of the warp and weft.
Kanchipuram is a temple town in Tamil Nadu and the home of Kanchivaram silk. Weaving families there have passed the craft down through generations. The designs draw on temple art and nature, including medallions, paisleys, creepers and stripes.
