A soft lilac pink Kanchivaram silk saree woven with a large check pattern in fine magenta lines. Small floral sprig buttas in gold zari are scattered inside the squares. The wide border is woven in rose gold and gold zari in a close, textured pattern, and it is edged with a mustard selvedge. The pallu is a lilac pink with an all-over rose gold zari weave of small leaves and creepers, framed by the same zari border, and it ends in tassels. A matching lilac pink blouse piece with a subtle check weave comes with the saree. It suits weddings, receptions, festivals and day functions, and the pastel shade with a soft glow is a graceful choice for daytime wear.
Saree length: 5.5 metres, plus a 0.8 metre blouse piece

Kanchivaram weaving is one of India’s oldest silk traditions. The body, border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked, which gives a strong border. The checks and the floral sprig buttas are woven on the loom, and the border and pallu are woven in a dense rose gold zari, with careful setting of the warp and weft.
Kanchipuram is a temple town in Tamil Nadu and the home of Kanchivaram silk. Weaving families there have passed the craft down through generations. The designs draw on nature and temple art, including florals, leaves and creepers.
