A vivid rani pink Kanchivaram silk saree with a Jamdani pattern. Small floral buttas in coral, lilac, peach and silver are woven in neat rows across the plain body. A fine gold zari selvedge runs along both edges. The pallu carries large bouquets of flowers and leaves in lilac, coral, orange, olive and maroon, woven in a Jamdani style with a pixelated, geometric outline. A shimmering rose gold tissue panel and fine zari tassel-like stripes finish the pallu. A matching plain rani pink blouse piece comes with the saree. It suits weddings, receptions, festivals and special occasions, and the bold pink with a multicolour pallu is a lively choice.

Kanchivaram weaving is one of India’s oldest silk traditions. In the Jamdani technique, the motifs are woven into the fabric by hand with extra weft threads, so they sit on the silk like fine drawings, with a slightly stepped outline. The buttas and the bouquets are woven in coloured silk and zari threads, with careful setting of the warp and weft.
Kanchipuram is a temple town in Tamil Nadu and the home of Kanchivaram silk. Weaving families there have passed the craft down through generations. The designs draw on nature, including flowers, leaves and bouquets.
