Rich and regal, this Red Kanchivaram Silk Saree is woven with small gold zari buttas (paisley-leaf motifs) scattered evenly across the body, giving the fabric a fine, textured shimmer typical of traditional Kanchivaram weaving. A thin green contrast selvedge runs along the edge, offering a subtle finishing detail against the deep red base.

The border is woven using the attu pettu technique — an interlocking weft method used to create the dense, raised gold zari pattern — featuring a rudraksham (coin) motif with a crosshatch fill, framed by fine diagonal reku (twill) lines on either side. The pallu opens into a rich gold zari canvas woven in a vaira oosi (diamond lattice) pattern, layered above a yanai (elephant) motif border, a classic Kanchivaram design representing prosperity and tradition — all finished with a decorative pettu (edge trim) at the very hem.

This saree showcases classic Kanchivaram weaving techniques — a fine all-over butta motif on the body, and a border woven using the attu pettu method, where the weft is interlocked to create the dense, raised rudraksham (coin) pattern flanked by reku (diagonal twill) lines. The pallu is woven in a vaira oosi (diamond lattice) pattern, a technique named for its resemblance to needle-point diamonds, paired with a yanai (elephant) motif border — a design element traditionally associated with prosperity and royal patronage in Kanchivaram weaving.

Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu — the historic silk-weaving town renowned for centuries-old Kanchivaram (Kanjivaram) handloom traditions, passed down through generations of master weavers.
