A teal green Kanchivaram silk saree with diagonal lines of tiny flowers and leaves woven in gold zari across the body, with small butterfly and floral buttas scattered between them. A fine gold zari border carries bands of pineapple motifs and small flowers, and a royal blue selvedge frames the edge. The pallu is woven in a rich jaal of climbing creepers and leaves in deep teal and royal blue, with small gold zari blossoms, below a broad gold zari band. A matching teal green blouse piece with fine gold zari dots and a pineapple zari border comes with the saree. It suits weddings, receptions, festivals and day functions, and the teal and royal blue pairing is a rich, fresh choice.
Saree length: 5.5 metres, plus a 0.8 metre blouse piece
Blouse: teal green with fine gold zari dots and a pineapple zari border
Body: teal green with diagonal gold zari floral lines and small buttas

Kanchivaram weaving is one of India’s oldest silk traditions. The body, border and pallu are woven separately and interlocked, which gives a strong join. The diagonal floral lines and the buttas are woven in fine gold zari, and the creeper jaal in the pallu is woven in coloured silk threads, with careful setting of the warp and weft.
Kanchipuram is a temple town in Tamil Nadu and the home of Kanchivaram silk. Weaving families there have passed the craft down through generations. The designs draw on nature and temple art, including creepers, leaves, blossoms and pineapple motifs.
